Our story

At Distinctive we’re passionate about delivering products that customers want and need. As a team of experienced former retailers, we have a deep understanding of the challenges that both buyers and suppliers face when trying to deliver differentiation to shoppers.

Our mission is to eliminate these challenges and create a seamless sourcing process, providing customers the right products, at the right locations, when they need them and at the right price. Our bespoke offers are more relevant to that stores' specific shoppers' needs and encourage them to visit the store more, boosting sales.  

We specialise in ambient, chilled and non-food categories, helping retailers enhance product ranges, respond swiftly to emerging trends, and adapt to rapid changes in demand. Whether the needs are local, seasonal or category specific, we understand that continuous evolution is crucial for retail success in the current market.

Our bespoke supply chain solutions are designed to fit each retailers' needs, offering integrated EDI solutions, lower MOQs, customised price promotions and locally sourced or exclusive products. Distinctive is committed to delivering to the retailer and its customers requirements.

We started our Distinctive journey in 2018. In 2019 we got our first product listing in Sainsbury’s! It was Lottie Shaw’s famous Parkin Cake.

Shoppers are the measure of the value we create and keeping them at the heart of everything we do is paramount to our success. Whether a single product sourced locally, a dietary need or a new distinctive range of products, our mission is to bring shoppers what they look for and what they value.

We look to understand how our partners operate: retailers, suppliers and logistics partners. We design & operate a supply chain for each partner to focus on their own strengths; from making great products to running great stores, while we roll-up our sleeves to do everything else to deliver a better offer for the shopper. 

Marginal gains

Small incremental changes implemented consistently help us achieve  significant improvements over time. We continuously look to implement marginal improvements in the products we offer and in the way we run our operations, to better serve the changing needs of our customers.

In the same year, we got our first local product range listed in Central Co-op Bakewell store.
